NOV Norway – Tools to strengthen the safety culture

Blå has been assisting National Oilwell Varco Norway AS (NOV) in their work to strengthen their safety culture and leadership. Our approach was based on the principles of Crew Resource Management.

Project goals

NOV wanted to strengthen their safety culture and leadership. This was particular important for their international operations where they experienced that increased pressure could compromise their safety standard. It was important for NOV that the training was connected to their daily activities and safety requirements.

Our solution

Blå conducted several Crew Resource Management (CRM) seminars. The courses were conducted both in Norway, Singapore and South Korea, targeting Service Engineers, Service Managers, I&C Managers, Training Managers and HSE Managers. Through the seminars the managers were given tools to handle the safety requirements in their operations, and input on how they could incorporate the principles of CRM in their daily work.

In addition Blå produced an e-learning course covering relevant HSE-issues for managers in the company and important Crew Resource Management elements. The e-learning contains a studio debate and a case discussion based on a real incident. In this way the e-learning program works as a refresher of the topics discussed on the seminars and as an exercise where they could practice their skills within CRM.
